Amy Berntsen

Amy was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to New York City at age 16 to pursue a career in ballet. She attended the prestigious School of American Ballet for 3 years before graduating to become a professional ballet dancer. Amy danced professionally for 14 years as a principal dancer with 4 premier ballet companies, including Miami City Ballet, American Repertory Ballet, Ballet West and Diablo Ballet.

Amy has lived all over the United States while dancing and has performed in many world tours to Bangkok, Thailand; Lisbon, Portugal; Edinburgh, Scotland; and Beijing, China. She was the School Director and ballet instructor at The Dance Institute of Washington. She has also instructed for Miami City Ballet and The Miami Children’s Museum.

Amy has been teaching barre-based methods for over 4 years in Miami and New York City. Amy is very excited to join the FlyBarre team. Her passion for teaching is reflected in an energetic and inspiring class devoted entirely to her students. On her off-time, Amy enjoys hanging out with her husband and going to see live music. Amy is also an accomplished jewelry designer.
